                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for audible warning devices.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  Section 4535 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
     6  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     7  § 4535.  Audible warning devices.
     8     (a)  General rule.--Every motor vehicle operated on a highway
     9  shall be equipped with a horn or other audible warning device of
    10  a type approved in regulations of the department.
    11     (b)  Certain sound devices prohibited.--Except as
    12  specifically provided in this part or by regulations of the
    13  department, no vehicle operated on a highway shall be equipped
    14  with a siren, bell, whistle or any device emitting a similar
    15  sound or any unreasonably loud or harsh sound.


     1     (c)  Exceptions.--This section shall not apply to any special
     2  mobile equipment, commercial implement of husbandry or implement
     3  of husbandry that is not so equipped by the original
     4  manufacturer.
     5     (d)  Construction trucks.--Every construction truck shall be
     6  equipped with an audible warning device of a type approved by
     7  the department that will emit a sound when the vehicle is placed
     8  in reverse.
     9     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
