A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the month of March 2008 as "Junior Achievement 2 Month" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Junior Achievement is a nonprofit organization whose 4 mission is to educate and inspire young people in this 5 Commonwealth to value free enterprise, business and economics in 6 order to improve the quality of their lives; and 7 WHEREAS, Junior Achievement reaches out to more than 250,000 8 students in grades kindergarten through 12 in public and private 9 school systems in this Commonwealth with a message of hope and 10 prosperity for the future; and 11 WHEREAS, Through Junior Achievement, passionate people teach 12 young people the economics of life through a comprehensive
1 network of more than 10,000 dedicated parents, teachers and 2 volunteers from business and industry, colleges and 3 universities; and 4 WHEREAS, Junior Achievement's purpose is to teach each and 5 every child in this Commonwealth a fundamental understanding of 6 economics, business and finance; and 7 WHEREAS, Junior Achievement programs enrich the lives of 8 young people by highlighting the relevance of education and 9 economic development in becoming contributing members of 10 society; and 11 WHEREAS, Junior Achievement sustains our democracy by better 12 educating future entrepreneurs, consumers and voters; and 13 WHEREAS, Junior Achievement commemorates its 68th anniversary 14 in this Commonwealth in 2008; therefore be it 15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the 16 month of March 2008 as "Junior Achievement Month" in 17 Pennsylvania.
