INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, OCTOBER 2, 2002
A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the week of November 3 through 9, 2002, as "Adult 2 Day Services Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Adult day services are one of the fastest growing 4 components of community-based long-term care and are a 5 significant component in Pennsylvania's long-term care 6 continuum; and 7 WHEREAS, The number of adult day services centers has grown 8 from six licensed centers in this Commonwealth in 1980 to 9 approximately 250 centers licensed by the Pennsylvania 10 Department of Aging today; and 11 WHEREAS, Adult day services enable older adults to remain in
1 their homes rather than be placed in a residential nursing or 2 personal care facility; and 3 WHEREAS, Adult day services provide a significant respite for 4 caregivers, enabling them to work outside of the home or to take 5 a much-needed break from the rigors of 24-hour caregiving; 6 therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the 8 week of November 3 through 9, 2002, as "Adult Day Services Week" 9 in Pennsylvania.
