     2 Month" in Pennsylvania.

3 WHEREAS, May has traditionally been recognized as "Older
4 Americans Month" in the United States, a month set aside both to

8 WHEREAS, The Administration on Aging within the Department of
9 Health and Human Services has announced that the theme for Older

2 WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize that older citizens
3 possess a wealth of experience, talent and wisdom and a
4 willingness to share them; and
5 WHEREAS, Older citizens highly value their freedom and
6 independence and want to remain in their homes and communities
7 as active and contributing citizens; and
8 WHEREAS, Over the next ten years, the largest demographic
9 change will be a 50% increase in the number of individuals who

11 demand for health care and long-term care services; and
12 WHEREAS, In past years during the month of May, groups such
13 as the American Association of Retired Persons and the

16 care and income security needs of the 2.4 million Pennsylvanians
17 who are at least 60 years of age; and
18 WHEREAS, It is appropriate to inform older citizens of the
19 wide variety of programs and services available to them,
20 including, but not limited to, PACE and PACENET, the Property
21 Tax and Rent Rebate Program, the fixed route and shared-ride
