                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Memorializing the Pennsylvania Congressional Delegation to
     2     condemn recent pronouncements by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,
     3     President of Iran, which set forth goals including the
     4     destruction of the State of Israel.

     5     WHEREAS, President Ahmadinejad spoke of wiping Israel off the
     6  map and witnessing a world without America and Zionism while
     7  addressing thousands of students on October 27, 2005, at the
     8  World Without Zionism conference held in Tehran in advance of
     9  Iran's Jerusalem Day; and
    10     WHEREAS, President Ahmadinejad's pronouncements came soon
    11  after Israel's withdrawal from Gaza and were made on the same
    12  day as a deadly terrorist attack on Israeli civilians in Hadera;
    13  and
    14     WHEREAS, President Ahmadinejad's intolerant language is not
    15  acceptable given persistent challenges to tolerance and
    16  international community; and

     1     WHEREAS, Anti-Israel statements and demonstrations impede the
     2  progress of regional stability and collective security; and
     3     WHEREAS, Anti-Israel statements and demonstrations are
     4  counterproductive and further diminish the leadership of
     5  President Ahmadinejad, who came to power in August 2005; and
     6     WHEREAS, World leaders have openly criticized President
     7  Ahmadinejad's rhetoric; therefore be it
     8     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
     9  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize the Pennsylvania
    10  Congressional Delegation to condemn recent pronouncements by
    11  Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of Iran, which set forth goals
    12  including the destruction of the State of Israel; and be it
    13  further
    14     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    15  the Pennsylvania Congressional Delegation.
