A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing with sadness the supreme sacrifice of Staff Sgt. 2 Randy McCaulley, who died from enemy fire while courageously 3 serving our nation in Iraq. 4 WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Randy McCaulley was wounded while leading 5 an eight-member Pennsylvania National Guard patrol which came 6 under small-arms fire in Mudiq, Iraq; and 7 WHEREAS, Sgt. McCaulley died from his wounds on March 23 at 8 Camp Taqaddum Shock and Trauma Center, paying the supreme 9 sacrifice for his nation in Operation Iraqi Freedom; and 10 WHEREAS, An assigned member of Company A, 1-110th Infantry, 11 based in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Sgt. McCaulley was due to return 12 stateside this summer along with other members of the Second 13 Brigade Combat Team; and 14 WHEREAS, Sgt. McCaulley has been posthumously promoted to the 15 rank of sargeant first class and awarded the Purple Heart; and 16 WHEREAS, Sgt. McCaulley, whose military career spanned more 17 than 25 years, received over the course of his service the Army 18 Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Overseas Service
1 Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Air Assault Badge and Combat 2 Infantryman's Badge, and he was planning to retire upon 3 returning to Pennsylvania this summer; and 4 WHEREAS, Sgt. McCaulley is survived by his sons, Cody and 5 Dustin, and by his parents, Donna and James McCaulley, and was a 6 resident of Indiana County; and 7 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives wishes to honor Sgt. 8 McCaulley posthumously for his courageous service to our nation; 9 therefore be it 10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize with 11 sadness the supreme sacrifice of Staff Sgt.
