WHEREAS, On September 1, 1956, Professor Del Duca, known to
many as "The Duke," began his nearly 60-year career as a
professor at the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Del
Duca taught and mentored countless students from the United
States and around the world and was internationally recognized
as a leading scholar in the fields of commercial and comparative
law, the internationalization of legal education and the
harmonization of laws; and
WHEREAS, Professor Del Duca established the law school's
master of comparative law degree program and founded and managed
the law school's first international program; and
WHEREAS, After an illustrious tenure, Professor Del Duca
retired from teaching in 2013, but continued active scholarship
and publication; and
WHEREAS, Following retirement, Professor Del Duca
participated as a member of the United States Secretary of
State's Committee on International Trade Law, served as
President of the International Academy of Commercial and
Consumer Law, acted as United States Correspondent to the Rome
International Institute for the Unification of Private Law and
collaborated with Working Group III (Online Dispute Resolution)
of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law; and
WHEREAS, Professor Del Duca also served as editor of the
Pennsylvania Bar Association Quarterly since 1968 and as editor-
in-chief of the Uniform Commercial Code Law Journal since 1972;
and
WHEREAS, In his community, Professor Del Duca participated
with the Exchange Club, Chamber of Commerce, Police Athletic
