AN ACT 1 Providing for disclosure of HIV-related information to coroners 2 and medical examiners. 3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 4 hereby enacts as follows: 5 Section 1. Short title. 6 This act shall be known and may be cited as the HIV-Related 7 Information for Coroners and Medical Examiners Act. 8 Section 2. Disclosure. 9 Notwithstanding section 7(a) of the act of November 29, 1990 10 (P.L.585, No.148), known as the Confidentiality of HIV-Related 11 Information Act, a person who obtains confidential HIV-related 12 information in the course of providing any health or social 13 service or pursuant to a release of confidential HIV-related
1 information under section 7(c) of the Confidentiality of HIV- 2 Related Information Act may disclose or may be compelled to 3 disclose the information to a coroner, deputy coroner, medical 4 examiner or deputy medical examiner as part of an investigation. 5 Section 3. Repeal. 6 All acts and parts of acts are repealed insofar as they are 7 inconsistent with this act. 8 Section 4. Effective date. 9 This act shall take effect in 60 days.
