AN ACT
1Designating the apple as the official fruit of the Commonwealth
2of Pennsylvania.
3The General Assembly finds and declares as follows:
4(1) Apples are grown in every county within this
5Commonwealth.
6(2) Pennsylvania apple production ranks in the top ten
7nationally with more than 10 million bushels produced
8annually.
9(3) Approximately one-third of Pennsylvania's apples are
10grown for fresh market sales.
11(4) Apples are nutritious and are a good source of
12fiber.
13(5) The world's largest apple processor is located in
14southcentral Pennsylvania.
15The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
16hereby enacts as follows:
17Section 1. Official State fruit.
1The apple is designated as the official fruit of the
2Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
3Section 2. Effective date.
4This act shall take effect immediately.
