INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, JUNE 7, 2004
A RESOLUTION 1 Urging the Governor to proclaim October 13, 2004, as "Emergency 2 Nurses Day" in Pennsylvania; and urging all citizens of this 3 Commonwealth to join in its observance. 4 WHEREAS, October 13, 2004, has been designated as "National 5 Emergency Nurses Day"; and 6 WHEREAS, Emergency nurses are an extremely vital part of the 7 health care and emergency medical care delivery systems in this 8 Commonwealth; and 9 WHEREAS, Emergency nurses are committed to providing quality 10 emergency care; and
1 WHEREAS, Emergency nurses have demonstrated their 2 professionalism and continually strive to upgrade standards of 3 practice and improve services; and 4 WHEREAS, Emergency nurses practice in a variety of settings, 5 including rural and urban hospitals, trauma centers, clinics, 6 health maintenance organizations, industrial institutions, 7 military settings, ambulatory centers and aeromedical and ground 8 transport vehicles; and 9 WHEREAS, There are several subspecialties of emergency 10 nursing, including pediatrics, trauma management, prehospital 11 care, military, rural aeromedical and trauma; and 12 WHEREAS, The collaboration of emergency nurses is also sought 13 for educational programs, disaster planning, organ and tissue 14 procurement, injury prevention campaigns and prehospital care; 15 and 16 WHEREAS, Working in emergency rooms and urgent care centers, 17 on emergency rescue units, as flight nurses and in many other 18 roles, the nearly 100,000 emergency nurses across the United 19 States combine state-of-the-art skills with heartfelt compassion 20 for the people they serve; and 21 WHEREAS, There are more than 24,000 members of the Emergency 22 Nurse Association, whose mission is to provide quality 23 compassionate emergency care along with visionary leadership to 24 support, promote and protect the emergency nursing profession; 25 and 26 WHEREAS, It is fitting to join the national observance 27 recognizing these dedicated people; therefore be it 28 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the Governor 29 to proclaim October 13, 2004, as "Emergency Nurses Day" in 30 Pennsylvania; and be it further 20040H0766R3958 - 2 -
