A RESOLUTION 1 Honoring fathers and designating June 20, 2004, as "Father's 2 Day" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Our fathers continually support and preserve our 4 families financially, spiritually and emotionally; and 5 WHEREAS, While each day brings opportunities to honor our 6 fathers, June 20, 2004, has been set aside for formal 7 recognition of the vital role of fathers in the lives of all 8 Pennsylvanians; and 9 WHEREAS, Motivated fathers inspire their children to become 10 accomplished and successful; and
1 WHEREAS, Through their unwavering support and compassion in 2 times of despair and joy and through their honesty and hard 3 work, fathers serve as role models for their children; and 4 WHEREAS, The vitality, leadership, advice and guidance 5 fathers offer influence the choices children make throughout 6 their lives; and 7 WHEREAS, Fathers sustain families regardless of the 8 challenges they encounter; and 9 WHEREAS, In 1966, Lyndon Johnson first proclaimed "Father's 10 Day" a national holiday to be celebrated annually on the third 11 Sunday of June; therefore be it 12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the support 13 and vital contributions of fathers and designate June 20, 2004, 14 as "Father's Day" in Pennsylvania to formally recognize fathers 15 for the crucial role they play in this Commonwealth and our 16 nation.
