        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 18, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the life of volunteer firefighter Raymond Simonis III,
     2     of Ambler, Pennsylvania, who tragically died as a result of
     3     performing firefighting duties in Upper Dublin Township,
     4     Montgomery County, and expressing condolences.

     5     WHEREAS, Raymond Simonis III was born in Philadelphia and was
     6  a graduate of Abington High School; and


     1     WHEREAS, Mr. Simonis faithfully served as a volunteer
     2  firefighter for 19 years with the Wissahickon Fire Company,
     3  Station 7, and Haz-Mat Team 919; and
     4     WHEREAS, On December 18, 2007, firefighter Simonis responded
     5  to a mutual aid call for a structure fire at an apartment
     6  building, initially being staged outside upon arrival until
     7  asked to assist his Ladder 7 crew on the second floor, where he
     8  successfully located the source of the fire; and
     9     WHEREAS, On December 19, 2007, as a direct result of his
    10  service in this incident, firefighter Simonis suffered heart
    11  failure in the early morning hours and died; therefore be it
    12     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives express its
    13  profound sorrow at the untimely death of Raymond Simonis III,
    14  who tragically lost his life on December 19, 2007, as a result
    15  of performing his firefighting duties and offer heartfelt
    16  condolences to his family and friends; and be it further
    17     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives pay tribute to
    18  and honor the memory of Raymond Simonis III, who courageously,
    19  selflessly and honorably gave his life in service to his
    20  community, and express deepest appreciation for his dedication
    21  in serving as a volunteer firefighter with the Wissahickon Fire
    22  Company; and be it further
    23     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    24  Christina Simonis, wife of Raymond Simonis III, at 302 E. Mount
    25  Pleasant Avenue, Ambler, PA 19002, and to the Wissahickon Fire
    26  Company at 245 E. Race Street, Ambler, PA 19002.
