A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

Memorializing the Congress of the United States to reevaluate

state motor vehicle emission standards.

WHEREAS,   Section 206 of the Clean Air Act (69 Stat. 1, 42

4

U.S.C. § 7525) requires Federal emissions testing; and

5

WHEREAS, Section 209 of the Clean Air Act (42 U.S.C. § 7543)

6

regulates state standards; and

7

WHEREAS, Motor vehicles currently in service are newer models

8

than in the past; and

9

WHEREAS, Testing is expensive and unable to guarantee

10

improved air quality; therefore be it

11

RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly

12

of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize the Congress of

13

the United States to reevaluate sections 206 and 209 of the

14

Clean Air Act (69 Stat. 1, 42 U.S.C. §§ 7525 and 7543) in light

15

of technological improvements and testing costs, goals and

16

success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to

18

the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each
