AN ACT
Amending Title 35 (Health and Safety) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in State Fire Commissioner, providing
for light-frame truss-type construction signage and
prescribing a penalty.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Title 35 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
ยง 7388. Light-frame truss-type construction signage.
(a) Warning signs required.--An owner of any commercial or
industrial structure, or any multiunit residential structure of
three units or more, that uses light-frame truss-type
construction shall mark the structure with a sign or symbol
approved by the commissioner in a manner sufficient to warn
persons conducting fire control or other emergency operations of
the existence of light-frame truss-type construction in the
structure.
(b) Regulations.--The commissioner shall promulgate

regulations to implement the provisions of this section,
including, but not limited to:
(1) The dimensions and color of such sign or symbol.
(2) The time within which owners of such structures must
comply with the provisions of this section.
(3) The location of the sign or symbol on such
structures.
(c) Penalties.--The commissioner shall enforce the
provisions of this section. An owner who fails to comply with
the requirements of this section commits a summary offense.
(d) Definitions.--As used in this section, the term "light-
frame truss-type construction" means a type of construction
whose primary structural elements are formed by a system of
repetitive wood or light gauge steel framing members, including,
but not limited to:
(1) Wood roof or floor trusses joining together with
metal connector plates.
(2) Engineered lumber roof or floor I-beams.
(3) Light-gauge steel channel truss systems.
(4) Open steel web bar joists.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
