A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the National Days of Prayer and Remembrance for the
victims and heroes of the terror attacks on September 11,
2001.
WHEREAS, Approximately 3,000 people from 93 nations died as a
result of the attacks on September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Among the 414 emergency workers and first responders
in New York City who lost their lives, 343 were firefighters of
the New York City Fire Department, 37 were police officers of
the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department,
23 were police officers of the New York City Police Department,
10 were emergency medical technicians and paramedics and one was
a patrolman from the New York Fire Patrol; and
WHEREAS, Survivors have suffered from chronic respiratory
complications and post-traumatic stress disorder following the
aftermath of the September 11 attacks; and
WHEREAS, The heroic actions of emergency workers and first
