AN ACT 1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An 2 act relating to the public school system, including certain 3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial 4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the 5 laws relating thereto," further providing for Commonwealth 6 reimbursements for vocational-technical programs; and making 7 an appropriation. 8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 9 hereby enacts as follows: 10 Section 1. Section 2508.4 of the act of March 10, 1949 11 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, added 12 August 14, 1963 (P.L.30, No.14) (P.L.1065, NO.463), is amended <-- 13 to read: 14 Section 2508.4. Payments on Account of Improvements and 15 Additions in Vocational-Technical Curriculums.--Every high 16 school offering eight or more approved vocational-technical
1 programs, including two in trade and industrial education and 2 any area vocational board operating an approved program of 3 vocational or technical education in its own or rented space 4 shall be paid by the Commonwealth for every school year on 5 account of approved replacement, updating and improvement of 6 equipment and on account of approved new or additional equipment 7 up to fifty per cent of the cost of such improvements and 8 additions. To ensure that equipment meets industry standards and 9 enables students to achieve competency standards required by 10 industry, only equipment acquisitions which have been 11 recommended by advisory committees will be eligible for 12 reimbursement. 13 Section 2. The sum of $10,000,000, or as much thereof as may 14 be necessary, is hereby appropriated to the Department of 15 Education for the fiscal year July 1, 1999, to June 30, 2000 <-- 16 2000, TO JUNE 30, 2001, for the purpose of vocational-technical <-- 17 curriculum reimbursements under section 2508.4 of the act of 18 March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code 19 of 1949. 20 Section 3.
