                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the life and extending condolences for the supreme
     2     sacrifice of Army Sergeant First Class Tony L. Knier of the
     3     82nd Airborne Division, who tragically lost his life in
     4     service to our country near Tikrit, Iraq, on October 21,
     5     2006.

     6     WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class Tony L. Knier was born on March
     7  20, 1975, and formerly resided in Westfield, Tioga County; and
     8     WHEREAS, Sgt. Knier graduated from Cowanesque Valley High
     9  School in 1994; and
    10     WHEREAS, Sgt. Knier was the beloved son of the late Richard
    11  Knier and Betty Tidwell, loving husband of Bobbi Kline Knier and

     1  proud father of three children: Marcus, Dakoda and Kayli; and
     2     WHEREAS, Sgt. Knier honorably served in the United States
     3  Army for more than 12 years; and
     4     WHEREAS, Sgt. Knier instructed soldiers at Fort Benning,
     5  Georgia, before being deployed to Iraq in August; and
     6     WHEREAS, Sgt. Knier was a member of the elite combat unit
     7  known as the Airborne Rangers; and
     8     WHEREAS, Sgt. Knier died tragically from injuries sustained
     9  in an explosion while commanding a convoy of vehicles in Salah
    10  ad Din province in northern Iraq; and
    11     WHEREAS, Sgt. Knier distinguished himself by serving his
    12  country with valor, professionalism and discipline, in keeping
    13  with true patriotism; therefore be it
    14     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life
    15  and extend condolences for the supreme sacrifice of Sgt. Tony L.
    16  Knier, who died on October 21, 2006, while courageously serving
    17  his country near Tikrit, Iraq; and be it further
    18     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    19  Mrs. Betty Tidwell, 4916 Highway 31 North, Lot 14, Springfield,
    20  TN 37172, and to Mrs. Bobbi Kline Knier, 5705 Kings Tree Drive,
    21  Fayetteville, NC 28304.
