A RESOLUTION
Designating September 26, 2016, as "Motorsports Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania provides great family-oriented venues
across the State for a wide variety of motorsports racing of all
types; and
WHEREAS, The Commonwealth has benefited economically from the
long-time investment of a wide range of businesses that are
involved in the production and engineering of the various
vehicles used in racing today; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is one of two states having the most
National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) fans and
there are approximately 20 chapters of the Official NASCAR
Members Club located in this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, In terms of racetracks, Pennsylvania ranks among the
top five states in the country; and
WHEREAS, There are three NASCAR sanctioned racetracks in
western Pennsylvania and numerous smaller tracks located
throughout this Commonwealth which provide venues for all types

of motorsports; and
WHEREAS, The United States Motorsports Association is
conducting a motorsports impact report in conjunction with the
Sports Innovation Institute at Indiana University - Purdue
University to determine the economic benefits of motorsports
across the nation; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate
September 26, 2016, as "Motorsports Day" in Pennsylvania.
