                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for renewal of registration and
     3     for expiration and renewal of drivers' licenses.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Sections 1309 and 1514(a) of Title 75 of the
     7  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read:
     8  § 1309.  Renewal of registration.
     9     At least 60 days prior to the expiration of each
    10  registration, the department shall send to the registrant an
    11  application for renewal of registration and a copy of the most
    12  current driver's manual published by the department. Upon return
    13  of the application, accompanied by self-certification of
    14  financial responsibility and the applicable fee or fees, the
    15  department shall send to the registrant a renewed registration
    16  card. An application for renewal of registration for a motor
    17  carrier vehicle shall also be accompanied by self-certification
    18  of current safety inspection. Failure to receive a renewal

     1  application shall not relieve a registrant from the
     2  responsibility to renew the registration.
     3  § 1514.  Expiration and renewal of drivers' licenses.
     4     (a)  General rule.--Every driver's license shall expire on
     5  the day after the licensee's birthdate at intervals of not more
     6  than four years as may be determined by the department. Every
     7  license shall be renewable on or before its expiration upon
     8  application, payment of the required fee, and satisfactory
     9  completion of any examination required or authorized by this
    10  chapter. At such time as the department sends an application for
    11  the renewal of a driver's license to a licensee, the department
    12  shall enclose a copy of the most current driver's manual
    13  published by the department.
