| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending the act of January 10, 1968 (1967 P.L.925, No.417), |
2 | entitled "An act relating to officers and employes of the |
3 | General Assembly; fixing the number, qualifications, |
4 | compensation, mileage and duties of the officers and employes |
5 | of the Senate and of the House of Representatives; providing |
6 | for their election or appointment, term of office, or of |
7 | service, removal and manner of filling vacancies; fixing the |
8 | salary of the Director of the Legislative Reference Bureau; |
9 | providing for compilation of lists of employes," providing |
10 | for increases in compensation. |
11 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
12 | hereby enacts as follows: |
13 | Section 1. The act of January 10, 1968 (1967 P.L.925, |
14 | No.417), referred to as the Legislative Officers and Employes |
15 | Law, is amended by adding a section to read: |
16 | Section 57. (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), no |
17 | employe of a legislative agency shall receive any cost-of-living |
18 | increase, meritorious increment or other increase in salary or |
19 | compensation during the calendar year beginning January 1, 2009. |
20 | (b) If an employe changes jobs during the calendar year |
21 | beginning January 1, 2009, the employing agency may increase the |
22 | salary or compensation of the employe during the year only if |

1 | the classification of the subsequent job provides for a higher |
2 | salary or compensation than the previous job. |
3 | (c) For purposes of this section, the term "legislative |
4 | agency" means any of the following: |
5 | (1) The Senate. |
6 | (2) The House of Representatives. |
7 | (3) The Capitol Preservation Committee. |
8 | (4) The Center for Rural Pennsylvania. |
9 | (5) The Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control |
10 | and Conservation Committee. |
11 | (6) The Joint State Government Commission. |
12 | (7) The Legislative Budget and Finance Committee. |
13 | (8) The Legislative Data Processing Committee. |
14 | (9) The Independent Regulatory Review Commission. |
15 | (10) The Legislative Reference Bureau. |
16 | (11) The Local Government Commission. |
17 | (12) The Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing. |
18 | (13) The Legislative Reapportionment Commission. |
19 | (14) The Legislative Office for Research Liaison. |
20 | (15) The Legislative Audit Advisory Commission. |
21 | Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately. |
