AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for application for vehicle
3registration.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Section 1305(a) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
7Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8§ 1305. Application for registration.

9(a) General rule.--Application for the registration of a
10vehicle shall be made to the department upon the appropriate
11form or forms furnished by the department. The application shall
12contain the full name and address of the owner or owners, 
13including county of residence; the make, model, year and vehicle
14identification number of the vehicle; and such other information
15as the department may require. Program participants in the
16Address Confidentiality Program under 23 Pa.C.S. Ch. 67
17(relating to domestic and sexual violence victim address

1confidentiality) may use a substitute address designated by the
2Office of Victim Advocate as their address. Applicants for
3registration of a truck, truck tractor, trailer or bus shall
4provide the vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), or the
5Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR), as applicable. If the
6manufacturer's ratings are not available, the applicant shall
7provide sufficient information as to the horsepower, braking
8capacity and such other data as necessary for the department to
9determine an equivalent measure of the vehicle's hauling and
10stopping capability. If the applicant wishes to register a
11vehicle at a registered gross weight less than the gross vehicle
12weight rating, the application shall include information as to
13weight, load and any other such information as the department
14may require. The application shall be accompanied by self-
15certification of financial responsibility and the applicable
16fee.

18Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
