AN ACT
Amending Title 61 (Prisons and Parole) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in general administration relating to
correctional institutions, providing for guard and magazine
capacity requirement.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Title 61 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
§ 1107. Guard and magazine capacity requirement.
A correctional institution shall require two correctional
facility employees or two detention facility employees per guard
tower or observational unit to be armed with an autoloading
rifle with a minimum capacity of 500 preloaded rounds per rifle.
Section 2. All regulations and parts of regulations are
abrogated insofar as they are inconsistent with the addition of
61 Pa.C.S. § 1107.
Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
