A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of November 14 through 18, 2016, as
"American Education Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, National attention must be focused on the integral
role that education plays in preparing citizens of the United
States for the future in an increasingly competitive and
interdependent world; and
WHEREAS, A well-educated work force is vital to the economic
well-being of the United States and of this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, A good education leads to more skilled and higher
paying jobs; and
WHEREAS, "American Education Week" affords all Americans with
a wonderful opportunity to celebrate public education and honor
individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every
child receive a quality education through their 2016 theme,

"Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility";
and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has a strong and historic
tradition of commitment to public education and has been blessed
with the leadership of brilliant and innovative educators;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of November 14 through 18, 2016, as "American Education
Week" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge educators,
parents and students throughout this Commonwealth to observe
"American Education Week" in Pennsylvania and use it to nurture
the educational opportunities in this Commonwealth; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge employers in
this Commonwealth to encourage employees who are parents to
visit their children's schools and get more involved in efforts
to promote and enhance learning.
