                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," providing school lunch reimbursement
     6     payments from the Commonwealth.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
    10  as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a
    11  section to read:
    12     Section 1337.1.  School Lunch Reimbursement.--(a)  Subject to
    13  future adjustments under subsection (b), each school building
    14  which offers the lunch program shall receive an additional
    15  reimbursement of two cents (2¢) for a total reimbursement of

     1  eight cents (8¢) per lunch served for the 1998-1999 school year.
     2     (b)  For the 1999-2000 school year, and each school year
     3  thereafter, financial incentives shall be fixed by regulation of
     4  the Department of Education. No financial incentives shall be
     5  less than the amounts established in subsection (a) for the
     6  1998-1999 school year.
     7     (c)  Financial incentives shall be paid to school districts
     8  during the school year in which they are earned based on reports
     9  submitted to the Department of Education.
    10     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
