                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for unsworn
     3     falsification to authorities.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 4904 of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 4904.  Unsworn falsification to authorities.
     9     (a)  In general.--A person commits a misdemeanor of the
    10  second degree if, with intent to mislead a public servant in
    11  performing his official function, he:
    12         (1)  makes any written false statement which he does not
    13     believe to be true;
    14         (2)  submits or invites reliance on any writing which he
    15     knows to be forged, altered or otherwise lacking in
    16     authenticity; [or]
    17         (3)  submits or invites reliance on any sample, specimen,

     1     map, boundary mark, or other object which he knows to be
     2     false[.]; or
     3         (4)  makes any false statement which he does not believe
     4     to be true while testifying before a committee of the General
     5     Assembly.
     6     (b)  Statements "under penalty".--A person commits a
     7  misdemeanor of the third degree if he makes a written false
     8  statement which he does not believe to be true, on or pursuant
     9  to a form bearing notice, authorized by law, to the effect that
    10  false statements made therein are punishable.
    11     (c)  Perjury provisions applicable.--Section 4902(c) through
    12  (f) of this title (relating to perjury) applies to this section.
    13     (d)  Definitions.--As used in this section, the following
    14  words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this
    15  subsection:
    16     "Committee."  A committee, standing committee, select
    17  committee, joint select committee, subcommittee or task force.
    18     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
