AN ACT
1 Amending Title 23 (Domestic Relations) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, requiring notice to certain
3 grandparents of adoption hearings.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 2721 of Title 23 of the Pennsylvania
7 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
8 § 2721. Notice of hearing.
9 The court shall fix a time and place for hearing. Notice of
10 the hearing shall be given to all persons whose consents are
11 required and to such other persons as the court shall direct.
12 Notice shall be given to any grandparent who has custody,
13 partial custody, visitation rights or any of the rights granted
14 pursuant to section 5311 (relating to when parent deceased),
15 5312 (relating to when parents' marriage is dissolved or parents
16 are separated) or 5313 (relating to when child has resided with
17 grandparents) or provisions of similar law adopted by another
18 jurisdiction. Notice to the parent or parents of the adoptee, if
1 required, may be given by the intermediary or someone acting on
2 his behalf. Notice shall be by personal service or by registered
3 mail to the last known address of the person to be notified or
4 in such other manner as the court shall direct.
5 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
