AN ACT
1 Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled
2 "An act relating to counties of the third, fourth, fifth,
3 sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending, revising,
4 consolidating and changing the laws relating thereto,"
5 authorizing the appointment of a second deputy controller.
6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7 hereby enacts as follows:
8 Section 1. Section 603 of the act of August 9, 1955
9 (P.L.323, No.130), known as The County Code, is amended to read:
10 Section 603. Deputy Controller and Clerks.--(a) The
11 controller in counties of the third, fourth and fifth classes
12 shall appoint a deputy controller and clerks, and in counties of
13 the sixth, seventh and eighth classes may appoint a deputy
14 controller and clerks, and each controller may authorize one or
15 more of the clerks employed in his office to administer to all
16 persons oaths and affirmations, pertaining to the business of
17 the office, with the same force and effect as if administered by
18 the controller or deputy controller.
1 (b) The controller may appoint a second deputy controller,
2 who shall possess and discharge all the rights, powers and
3 duties of the principal deputy controller during his necessary
4 or temporary absence.
5 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
