AN ACT
1 Making an appropriation to The United Mitochondrial Disease
2 Foundation, Pittsburgh, to promote research for the cure and
3 treatment of mitochondrial disorders.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. The sum of $200,000 is hereby appropriated to The
7 United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, Pittsburgh, for the
8 fiscal year July 1, 2003, to June 30, 2004, to promote research
9 for the cure and treatment of mitochondrial disorders and to
10 provide support to affected individuals and families.
11 Section 2. Payments to The United Mitochondrial Disease
12 Foundation, Pittsburgh, on account of the appropriation provided
13 in section 1 shall be made by the Secretary of Health in equal
14 quarterly payments.
15 Section 3. The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation,
16 Pittsburgh, shall provide full, complete and accurate
17 information as may be required by the Department of Health or
1 the chairman or the minority chairman of the Appropriations
2 Committee of the Senate or the chairman or the minority chairman
3 of the Appropriations Committee of the House of Representatives.
4 Section 4. This act shall take effect July 1, 2003, or
5 immediately, whichever is later.
