AN ACT
1 Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, providing for removal of political
3 advertisements.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8 § 6506. Political advertisements remaining after elections.
9 (a) Offense defined.--A person is guilty of a summary
10 offense if he is a candidate and fails to remove any political
11 advertisement in support of that person's candidacy from public
12 property within 30 days after the election in which the person
13 is a candidate.
14 (b) Penalty.--A person who violates this section shall be
15 sentenced, upon conviction, to pay a fine in the amount of $25
16 for each political advertisement.
17 (c) Definitions.--As used in this section, the following
18 words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this
1 subsection:
2 "Candidate." A person who has filed a nomination petition in
3 accordance with law for any elected office in this Commonwealth.
4 "Political advertisement." Any written, printed or painted
5 advertisement, sign, bill, notice, card or poster advertising a
6 candidate for election. The term does not include a sticker
7 advertising a candidate running for public office.
8 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 30 days.
