                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 2, 1915 (P.L.736, No.338), entitled, as
     2     reenacted and amended, "An act defining the liability of an
     3     employer to pay damages for injuries received by an employe
     4     in the course of employment; establishing an elective
     5     schedule of compensation; providing procedure for the
     6     determination of liability and compensation thereunder; and
     7     prescribing penalties," providing for evidence and filing of
     8     injuries caused by employment-related psychological
     9     conditions.

    10     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    11  hereby enacts as follows:
    12     Section 1.  Section 301 of the act of June 2, 1915 (P.L.736,
    13  No.338), known as the Workers' Compensation Act, reenacted and
    14  amended June 21, 1939 (P.L.520, No.281), is amended by adding a
    15  subsection to read:
    16     Section 301.  * * *
    17     (f)  Persons under section 601(a)(1), (2) and (3) who have


     1  provided firefighting, ambulance or rescue services and who file
     2  a petition for compensation based on an injury caused by
     3  employment-related psychological conditions shall not be
     4  required to present evidence that the injury resulted from
     5  abnormal or unusual conditions in connection with the provision
     6  of firefighting, ambulance or rescue services but shall be
     7  required to provide evidence that establishes a causal
     8  relationship between the injuries suffered by the person and the
     9  services they performed. Notwithstanding any other provision of
    10  law to the contrary, a person under section 601(a)(1), (2) and
    11  (3) who has provided firefighting, ambulance or rescue services
    12  may file a petition for compensation based on an injury caused
    13  by employment-related psychological conditions within six years
    14  after the injury.
    15     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
