                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of October 10, 1974 (P.L.705, No.235), entitled
     2     "An act providing for the training and licensing of watch
     3     guards, protective patrolmen, detectives and criminal
     4     investigators, carrying and using lethal weapons in their
     5     employment; imposing powers and duties on the Commissioner of
     6     the Pennsylvania State Police; and providing penalties,"
     7     providing for the waiver of training requirements for active
     8     police officers under certain conditions.

     9     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    10  hereby enacts as follows:
    11     Section 1.  The act of October 10, 1974 (P.L.705, No.235),
    12  known as the Lethal Weapons Training Act, is amended by adding a
    13  section to read:
    14     Section 10.1.  Active Police Officers.--All active police
    15  officers subject to the training provisions of the act of June
    16  18, 1974 (P.L.359, No.120), referred to as the Municipal Police
    17  Education and Training Law, shall be granted a waiver of the
    18  training requirements of this act upon presentation to the
    19  commissioner of evidence of their completion of the training


     1  requirements of the Municipal Police Education and Training Law
     2  and the successful completion of a biennial firearms
     3  qualification examination administered by their respective
     4  police agency.
     5     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
