                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," providing for certain third class
     6     school districts.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
    10  as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a
    11  section to read:
    12     Section 2502.39.  Special Provisions for Certain Third Class
    13  School Districts.--In each school district of the third class
    14  which is entirely within a county of the sixth class where the
    15  miscellaneous personal income reported for tax year 1998, as
    16  determined by the Department of Revenue, increases by at least
    17  one thousand per centum (1000%) over the miscellaneous personal
    18  income reported for tax year 1997 the following shall apply: The
    19  total personal income used to determine the personal income aid


     1  ratio and market value/personal income aid ratios for the 2000-
     2  2001 school year shall be calculated using an amount for 1998
     3  miscellaneous personal income that is ten per centum (10%)
     4  higher than the amount for 1997 miscellaneous personal income.
     5  Prior to determining the basic education funding for the 2001-
     6  2002 school year, the basic education funding for such school
     7  districts for the 2000-2001 school year shall be adjusted
     8  according to the corrected aid ratios provided as a result of
     9  this calculation. The corrected basic education funding for the
    10  2000-2001 school year shall become the basis for calculation of
    11  the 2001-2002 school year for such school districts.
    12     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
