AN ACT
Amending Title 8 (Boroughs and Incorporated Towns) of the
Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in civil service for
police and fire apparatus operators, further providing for
appointments of police and fire apparatus operators.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 1171(b) of Title 8 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
ยง 1171. Appointments of police and fire apparatus operators.

(b) Compensation.--[This] The following shall apply:
(1) Except as provided under paragraph (2), this
subchapter is subject to the power of council to determine
compensation.
(2) A chief of the fire department who has been removed
from the bargaining unit under the act of June 24, 1968
(P.L.237, No.111), referred to as the Policemen and Firemen
Collective Bargaining Act, by rulings of the Pennsylvania

Labor Relations Board shall receive not less than the same
dollar increase, including fringe benefits but excluding
overtime and festive holiday pay, as received by the highest-
ranking paid fire officer participating in the bargaining
unit.

Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
