AN ACT 1 Amending the act of July 1, 1981 (P.L.191, No.57), entitled, as 2 amended, "An act establishing certain fees to be charged by 3 registers of wills in counties of the fifth, sixth, seventh 4 and eighth class and providing for fees in counties of the 5 second through eighth class," providing for the establishment 6 and modification of fees; and providing for the imposition of 7 an additional fee. 8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 9 hereby enacts as follows: 10 Section 1. Section 2.1 of the act of July 1, 1981 (P.L.191, 11 No.57), referred to as the Register of Wills Fee Law, added July 12 10, 1990 (P.L.355, No.82), is amended to read: 13 Section 2.1. In counties of the second, second A, third, 14 fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth classes on or after the 15 effective date of this act, the register of wills may establish, 16 increase, decrease, modify or eliminate fees and charges with 17 the approval of the President Judge [within 60 days of the 18 effective date of this section]. Thereafter, such fees and 19 charges shall [not] be established, increased, decreased, 20 modified or eliminated [except by an act of the General
1 Assembly] as determined by the register of wills and the 2 president judge. 3 Section 2. The act is amended by adding a section to read: 4 Section 2.2. An additional fee may be charged and collected 5 by the register of wills of a county of the second class for the 6 initiation of any action or legal proceeding. The additional fee 7 shall be deposited into a special register of wills computer 8 fund established in each county of the second class. Moneys in 9 the special fund shall be used by the register of wills, with 10 the approval of the president judge, solely for the purposes of 11 computerization and document reproduction for the office of the 12 register of wills. 13 Section 3.
