AN ACT
Designating a bridge on that portion of Pennsylvania Route 286
over Crooked Creek, Rayne Township, Indiana County, as the
SFC Randy McCaulley Memorial Bridge.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. SFC Randy McCaulley Memorial Bridge.
(a) Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as
follows:
(1) On March 23, 2006, SFC Randy McCaulley selflessly
gave his life in service to his country.
(2) SFC McCaulley enlisted in the United States Army in
1979 after graduating from Marion Center High School.
(3) SFC McCaulley served for 15 years on active duty
during which time he served two tours of duty in Germany and
one in Korea.
(4) SFC McCaulley later joined the National Guard and
requested to serve in the field.

(5) At the same time that SFC McCaulley received his
military retirement papers, his unit received deployment
orders for Iraq. Rather than take retirement, SFC McCaulley
chose to deploy to Iraq with his unit.
(6) SFC McCaulley served with the I and II Marine
Expeditionary Force in Iraq under the 2nd Infantry Brigade
Combat Team.
(7) SFC McCaulley was wounded while leading an eight-
member Pennsylvania National Guard patrol that came under
small-arms fire in Mudiq, Iraq.
(8) SFC McCaulley died from his wounds at Camp Taqaddum
Shock and Trauma Center, paying the supreme sacrifice for his
nation in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
(9) SFC McCaulley was posthumously promoted to the rank
of sergeant first class and awarded the Purple Heart.
(10) SFC McCaulley, whose military career spanned 22
years, received over the course of his service the Bronze
Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement
Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense
Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War On
Terrorism Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, two NCO
Professional Development Ribbons, the Army Service Ribbon,
four Overseas Service Ribbons, the Efficiency, Honor,
Fidelity Medal, the Combat Infantry Man's Medal, the Air
Assault Badge, the Expert Rifle Badge, the Driver Mechanic
Badge, the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Citation, the
Pennsylvania Army National Guard Meritorious Service Medal,
the Pennsylvania National Guard General Thomas T. Stewart
Medal, the Pennsylvania National Guard Major General Thomas
R. White Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation Medal.

(b) Designation.--The bridge located on Pennsylvania Route
286 over Crooked Creek, Rayne Township, Indiana County, is
designated the SFC Randy McCaulley Memorial Bridge.
(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
traffic in both directions on the bridge.
Section 2. Effective date.
This act shall take effect in 60 days.
