AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, requiring certain essential emergency service 3 benefits relating to financial responsibility. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Section 1711 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania 7 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: 8 § 1711. Required benefits. 9 (a) Medical benefit.--An insurer issuing or delivering 10 liability insurance policies covering any motor vehicle of the 11 type required to be registered under this title, except 12 recreational vehicles not intended for highway use, motorcycles, 13 motor-driven cycles or motorized pedalcycles or like type 14 vehicles, registered and operated in this Commonwealth, shall 15 include coverage providing a medical benefit in the amount of 16 $5,000.
1 (a.1) Essential emergency service benefits.--An insurer or 2 delivering liability insurance policies covering any motor 3 vehicle of the type required to be registered under this title, 4 except recreational vehicles not intended for highway use, 5 motorcycles, motor-driven cycles or motorized pedalcycles or 6 like type vehicles, registered and operated in this 7 Commonwealth, shall include coverage providing a benefit for 8 essential services performed and costs incurred by emergency 9 service personnel in the removal of hazardous materials, broken 10 glass and other vehicular debris from the scene of an accident. 11 (b) Minimum policy.--All insurers subject to this chapter 12 shall make available for purchase a motor vehicle insurance 13 policy which contains only the minimum requirements of financial 14 responsibility [and], medical benefits and essential emergency 15 service benefits as provided for in this chapter. 16 Section 2.
