                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
     2     Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further defining
     3     "municipal police officer."

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  The definition of "municipal police officer" in
     7  section 8951 of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     8  Statutes is amended to read:
     9  § 8951.  Definitions.
    10     The following words and phrases when used in this subchapter
    11  shall have, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, the
    12  meanings given to them in this section:
    13     * * *
    14     "Municipal police officer."  Any natural person who is
    15  properly employed by a municipality, including a home rule
    16  municipality, as a regular full-time or part-time police

     1  officer. For purposes of this subchapter, a regular full-time or
     2  part-time municipal police officer is duly and properly employed
     3  whether hired through civil service or employed by contract and
     4  paid a salary or compensated on an hourly or per diem basis.

     6     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
