                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
     2     Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for
     3     compensation of jurors.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 4561(a) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 4561.  Compensation of and travel allowance for jurors.
     9     (a)  Compensation.--A person summoned to serve as a juror
    10  shall receive compensation at the rate of [$9] $40 a day for
    11  [the first three days] each day in any calendar year he shall be
    12  required to report for service [and $25 a day for each day
    13  thereafter in such calendar year that such person is required to
    14  report]. In addition, persons so summoned shall be paid a travel
    15  allowance at the rate of 17¢ per mile circular except that no
    16  travel allowance shall be paid in the first judicial district.
