AN ACT
1Designating a bridge on that portion of 17th Street over State
2Route 56 in Windber Borough, Somerset County, as the Trooper
3Joseph Sepp Memorial Bridge.
4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:
6Section 1. Trooper Joseph Sepp Memorial Bridge.
7(a) Findings.--
8(1) State Trooper Joseph Sepp, of the Pennsylvania State
9Police, died on November 10, 2002, in the line of duty.
10(2) Trooper Sepp <-began his service to enlisted with the
11Pennsylvania State Police on February 24, 1992<-, following his
12graduation.<- He later graduated from the Pennsylvania State
13Police Academy on July 16, 1992.
14(3) Over 1,200 law enforcement officers were in
15attendance at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in
1Windber, Pennsylvania, on November 14, 2002, to honor Trooper
2Sepp. Governor Mark Schweiker noted, "Trooper Sepp did not
3swerve from the path of duty, and for that every
4Pennsylvanian is in his debt."
5(4) Trooper Sepp served his Commonwealth and community
6with courage and distinction.
7(b) Designation.--The bridge located on 17th Street over
8State Route 56 in Windber Borough, Somerset County, is hereby
9designated the Trooper Joseph Sepp Memorial Bridge.
10(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
11maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the highway to
12traffic in both directions on the highway.
13Section 2. Effective date.
14This act shall take effect <-immediately in 60 days.
