                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for renewal of registration and
     3     for expiration and renewal of drivers' licenses.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 1309 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes, amended December 23, 2002 (P.L. 1982,
     8  No.229), is amended to read:
     9  § 1309.  Renewal of registration.
    10     At least 60 days prior to the expiration of each
    11  registration, the department shall send to the registrant an
    12  application for renewal of registration and a copy of the most
    13  current driver's manual published by the department. Upon return
    14  of the application, accompanied by self-certification of
    15  financial responsibility and the applicable fee or fees, the
    16  department shall send to the registrant a renewed registration
    17  card. An application for renewal of registration for a motor


     1  carrier vehicle shall also be accompanied by self-certification
     2  of current safety inspection. Failure to receive a renewal
     3  application shall not relieve a registrant from the
     4  responsibility to renew the registration.
     5     Section 2.  Section 1514(a) of Title 75 is amended to read:
     6  § 1514.  Expiration and renewal of drivers' licenses.
     7     (a)  General rule.--Every driver's license shall expire on
     8  the day after the licensee's birthdate at intervals of not more
     9  than four years as may be determined by the department. Every
    10  license shall be renewable on or before its expiration upon
    11  application, payment of the required fee, and satisfactory
    12  completion of any examination required or authorized by this
    13  chapter. At such time as the department sends an application for
    14  the renewal of a driver's license to a licensee, the department
    15  shall enclose a copy of the most current driver's manual
    16  published by the department.
