AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, further providing for operation of snowmobiles and 3 ATVs on streets and highways. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Section 7721(b) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania 7 Consolidated Statutes is amended and the section is amended by 8 adding a subsection to read: 9 § 7721. Operation on streets and highways. 10 * * * 11 [(b) Emergency and bridge crossings.--A snowmobile or an ATV 12 may be operated on highways and streets: 13 (1) During periods of emergency when so declared by a 14 policy agency having jurisdiction. 15 (2) When necessary to cross a bridge or culvert.] 16 (b) Declared emergency.-- 17 (1) A snowmobile or an ATV may be operated on highways
1 and streets in order to provide evacuation assistance, search 2 and rescue or to provide other emergency services to 3 residents and authorities: 4 (i) During periods of emergency when so declared by 5 the President of the United States, the Governor or the 6 Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. 7 (ii) During periods of emergency when so declared by 8 and authorized by local authorities or under specific 9 powers enumerated in section 6109 (relating to specific 10 powers of department and local authorities). 11 (2) This subsection does not apply to a snowmobile 12 designated an emergency vehicle in accordance with authority 13 granted under section 6106 (relating to designation of 14 emergency vehicles by Pennsylvania State Police). 15 (b.1) Bridge crossings.--A snowmobile or an ATV may be 16 operated on highways and streets when necessary to cross a 17 bridge or culvert. 18 * * * 19 Section 2.
