                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, prohibiting the transportation of
     3     equine animals for slaughter.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 5511 of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
     8  § 5511.  Cruelty to animals.
     9     * * *
    10     (e.2)  Transporting equine animals for slaughter.--
    11  Notwithstanding any other provision of law, transporting of
    12  equine animals for slaughter shall be prohibited. Anyone
    13  convicted of violating this provision commits a misdemeanor of
    14  the third degree.

    16     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
