AN ACT
1 Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, further providing for liens by city
3 natural gas distribution operations.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 1414(a) of Title 66 of the Pennsylvania
7 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
8 § 1414. Liens by city natural gas distribution operations.
9 (a) General rule.--A city natural gas distribution operation
10 furnishing gas service to a property is entitled to impose or
11 assess a municipal claim against the property of the applicant
12 or customer and file as liens of record claims for unpaid
13 natural gas distribution service and other related costs,
14 including natural gas supply, in the court of common pleas of
15 the county in which the property of the applicant or customer is
16 situated or, if the claim for the unpaid natural gas
17 distribution service does not exceed the maximum amount over
18 which the Municipal Court of Philadelphia has jurisdiction, in
1 the Municipal Court of Philadelphia, pursuant to sections 3 and
2 9 of the act of May 16, 1923 (P.L.207, No.153), referred to as
3 the Municipal Claim and Tax Lien Law, and Chapter 22 (relating
4 to natural gas competition).
