        INTRODUCED BY BARRAR, NICKOL, HERMAN, RUBLEY, E. Z. TAYLOR,
           DALLY, ARGALL, ROSS, SAYLOR, MAITLAND, SCHRODER, YOUNGBLOOD,
           HERSHEY, STERN, WILT, SEYFERT, EGOLF AND TRELLO,
           MARCH 11, 1998

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON URBAN AFFAIRS, MARCH 11, 1998

                                     AN ACT

     1  Repealing the act of April 24, 1931 (P.L.43, No.34), entitled
     2     "An act authorizing and empowering cities of the first class
     3     in this Commonwealth to acquire by gift, lease, purchase or
     4     condemnation proceedings, within or without the limits of
     5     said cities, any land located within the Commonwealth of
     6     Pennsylvania necessary for the purpose of establishing and
     7     maintaining hospitals or other institutions for the care and
     8     treatment of the sick or disabled; and, with the consent of
     9     the local authorities where such land is situated, to
    10     maintain the same in the exercise of the health functions of
    11     such city."

    12     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    13  hereby enacts as follows:
    14     Section 1.  The act of April 24, 1931 (P.L.43, No.34),
    15  entitled "An act authorizing and empowering cities of the first
    16  class in this Commonwealth to acquire by gift, lease, purchase
    17  or condemnation proceedings, within or without the limits of
    18  said cities, any land located within the Commonwealth of
    19  Pennsylvania necessary for the purpose of establishing and
    20  maintaining hospitals or other institutions for the care and
    21  treatment of the sick or disabled; and, with the consent of the


     1  local authorities where such land is situated, to maintain the
     2  same in the exercise of the health functions of such city," is
     3  repealed.
     4     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
