                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for the maintenance of certain
     3     information on surrendered registrations and licenses.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Sections 1376 and 1540 of Title 75 of the
     7  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended by adding
     8  subsections to read:
     9  § 1376.  Surrender of registration plates and cards upon
    10             suspension.

    12     (a.1)  Record of surrendered registration plates and cards.--
    13  Whenever a member of the Pennsylvania State Police or a local
    14  police officer seizes a suspended registration plate or card,
    15  the substation or municipal police office shall maintain the
    16  following information:
    17         (1)  The name, address and telephone number of the person

     1     affected by the surrender or seizure.
     2         (2)  The date the item was surrendered or seized.
     3         (3)  The item which was surrendered or seized.
     4         (4)  The name of the officer or employee effecting the
     5     surrender or seizure.
     6         (5)  The date the item was transmitted to the department.

     8  § 1540.  Surrender of license.

    10     (d)  Record of surrendered license.--Whenever a member of the
    11  Pennsylvania State Police or a local police officer seizes a
    12  suspended registration plate or card, the substation or
    13  municipal police office shall maintain the following
    14  information:
    15         (1)  The name, address and telephone number of the person
    16     affected by the surrender or seizure.
    17         (2)  The date the item was surrendered or seized.
    18         (3)  The item which was surrendered or seized.
    19         (4)  The name of the officer or employee effecting the
    20     surrender or seizure.
    21         (5)  The date the item was transmitted to the department.
    22     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
