                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of July 2, 1984 (P.L.553, No.110), entitled, as
     2     reenacted and amended, "An act establishing a program within
     3     the Department of Commerce to provide grants to engineering
     4     degree-granting schools to assist in the acquisition of new
     5     engineering equipment or the upgrading of existing
     6     engineering equipment that is necessary to provide students
     7     with the courses required to obtain a degree in engineering,"
     8     further providing for the coverage of the act, for             <--
     9     reallocation of unused funds and for the expiration of the
    10     act.

    11     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    12  hereby enacts as follows:
    13     Section 1.  The definition of "engineering degree-granting     <--
    14  school" in section 2 of the act of July 2, 1984 (P.L.553,
    15  No.110), known as the Engineering School Equipment Act,
    16  reenacted and amended July 9, 1987 (P.L.211, No.35) is amended
    17  to read:
    18  Section 2.  Definitions.
    19     The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
    20  have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
    21  context clearly indicates otherwise:

     2     "Engineering degree-granting school."  An institution of
     3  higher education which offers on its campus all courses in a
     4  four-year curriculum in engineering leading to a baccalaureate
     5  degree or which offers curriculum in engineering or engineering
     6  technology which has been approved by the Accreditation Board of
     7  Engineering and Technology (ABET) and is recognized as such by
     8  the State Registration Board for Professional Engineers.

    10     Section 2 1.  Sections 3(d) and 6 of the act OF JULY 2, 1984   <--
    11  (P.L.553, NO.110), KNOWN AS THE ENGINEERING SCHOOL EQUIPMENT
    12  ACT, REENACTED AND AMENDED JULY 9, 1987 (P.L.211, NO.35), AND
    13  amended July 11, 1989 (P.L.318, No.53), are amended to read:
    14  Section 3.  Engineering equipment acquisition and upgrade.

    16     (d)  Distribution of unused funds.--Any allocated funds which
    17  have not been expended consistent with subsection (c) by June
    18  30, [1989] 1992, shall be available for reallocation by the
    19  board.
    20  Section 6.  Expiration.
    21     This act shall expire June 30, [1990] 1993.
    22     Section 3 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.          <--
