AN ACT
1 Amending the act of July 6, 1984 (P.L.614, No.127), entitled "An
2 act establishing the fees to be charged and received by
3 sheriffs," providing for the establishment and modification
4 of fees and for an additional fee in counties of the second
5 class.
6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7 hereby enacts as follows:
8 Section 1. The act of July 6, 1984 (P.L.614, No.127), known
9 as the Sheriff Fee Act, is amended by adding a section to read:
10 Section 18.1. Counties of the second class.
11 (a) Establishment and modification of fees.--In counties of
12 the second class on or after the effective date of this section,
13 the sheriff may establish, increase, decrease, modify or
14 eliminate fees and charges with the approval of the president
15 judge of the court of common pleas.
16 (b) Additional fee for computerizing sheriff's office.--An
17 additional fee may be charged and collected by the sheriff of a
18 county of the second class for the initiation of any action or
19 legal proceeding. The additional fee shall be deposited into a
1 special sheriff computer fund established in each county of the
2 second class. Moneys in the special fund shall be used solely
3 for the purpose of computerizing the office of the sheriff.
4 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
