                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 7, 1901 (P.L.20, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act for the government of cities of the second class,"
     3     further providing for tax levy authority.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 3 of Article XIX of the act of March 7,
     7  1901 (P.L.20, No.14), entitled "An act for the government of
     8  cities of the second class," is amended by adding a clause to
     9  read:
    10     Section 3.  Every city of the second class, in its corporate
    11  capacity, is authorized and empowered to enact ordinances for
    12  the following purposes, in addition to the other powers granted
    13  by this act:

    15     II-A.  To levy an annual tax not exceeding ten mills to
    16  support a police department which serves the city solely, to

     1  support the city's participation in a regional police
     2  department, or to pay for the purchase of police services for
     3  the city. This clause shall also apply to a city of the second
     4  class A.

     6     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
