                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for period of registration.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  Section 1307(a) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
     6  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     7  § 1307.  Period of registration.
     8     (a)  Staggered renewal system to be established.--The
     9  department shall establish a system of staggered registration
    10  renewal in a manner that an approximately equal number of
    11  registrations will expire every month throughout the year. [This
    12  system shall be coordinated with the periodic inspection of all
    13  vehicles which are subject to annual inspection except those
    14  vehicles bearing dealer registration plates.] In order to
    15  implement and maintain the staggered registration system, the
    16  department may prorate annual registration fees over


     1  registration periods of from 6 to 18 months.
