                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for
     3     telecommunications services supplied to certain
     4     organizations.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section 1511 of Title 66 of the Pennsylvania
     8  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     9  § 1511.  [Electricity] Electric and telecommunications service
    10             supplied to certain organizations.
    11     (a)  Electric service.--Any public utility company supplying
    12  electric service shall, upon application, permit a volunteer
    13  fire company or a nonprofit senior citizen center to elect to
    14  have its electric service rendered pursuant to a rate schedule
    15  which provides equivalent charges for such service as
    16  residential rates upon execution of a contract for a minimum

     1  term of one year.
     2     (b)  Telecommunications service.--Any telecommunications
     3  utility providing telecommunications service within a certified
     4  exchange area shall, upon application, permit a volunteer fire
     5  company or a nonprofit senior citizen center to elect to have
     6  its telecommunications service rendered pursuant to a rate
     7  schedule which provides equivalent charges for such
     8  telecommunications service as residential rates upon execution
     9  of a contract for a minimum of one year.
    10     (c)  Definitions.--As used in this section, the following
    11  words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this
    12  subsection:
    13     "Telecommunications service."  The term shall have the
    14  meaning given to it under section 3002 (relating to
    15  definitions).
    16     "Telecommunications utility."  Any provider of
    17  telecommunications service.
    18     "Volunteer fire company."  The term shall have the meaning
    19  given to it in the act of July 15, 1976 (P.L.1036, No.208),
    20  known as the Volunteer Fire Company, Ambulance Service and
    21  Rescue Squad Assistance Act.
    22     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
